Ribbons & Pearls!

I love delicate details on statement pieces, like ribbon woven through a strand of faux pearls or torn and shorn fabric knotted in between glittering druzy stones on a long necklace. I've been experimenting with frayed ribbon, strips of satin and lace combined with metal, beads and semi precious stones for years. I think it's all about a mix of textures. Below is a piece made from a second hand faux pearl necklace I bought at a thrift store called Talize. I cleaned it and added craft lace, organza bows, fraying taffeta strips and bits of purple and silver threaded chiffon from a sari textile I purchased at a local Indian fabrics store.
