Past crafts and dreams of an 'ideal' creative space;

I created the floral butterfly from recycled cotton and bits of trim and beads I normally use when creating my dresses. The center is made from a taffeta petal that just sort of rolled up on it's own and gave me the idea of a butterfly's body. Something about moths, dragonflies and butterflies. They just give me a sense of hope and freedom.

Below is another piece made from left over dress making fabric.

I have a room in my home that I use as a studio. It is a happy place full of happy memories and hours spent sewing, painting, crafting and drawing. I really want one of those big Endurance banners from Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic or a Free Spirit sign made from old license plates. You know, the ones they sell on Etsy! It's an arty room. I think my ideal studio would be very open and airy, with huge windows and an exposed brick wall. There would be big desk, a sewing table, dress forms and some potted orchids here and there. I can dream about the ideal studio all I want but I think someday I'll look back on those days working out of my home with my cat Sasha on my chair purring away as I craft and I will see that this was the ideal place. It is cluttered with my creations and I need more space. It is simple and not fancy. Yet it really has been my happy place.

Some lovely studios and spots for creative living I found on google;

From an article about Shabby Chic styled spaces. Really wish I knew the source!
