Feeling under the whether and a little down tonight. News of ongoing war, getting sick, all of it had me feeling some kind of way. I started searching for inspiration, something that could encourage me to make art. And I wanted to look at it in a different way. I came across Rae Missigman's website. She is an artist who uses mixed media, layers and repetition in her work. I found a page that talks about art prompts.
Art prompts are not something that appealed to me before but tonight I needed a push. One of the prompts calls upon artists to create with eyes closed. So I tried it. Got out my markers and my sketchbook. It's amazing how something new can make you feel more alive.
It's obviously not a good piece but it woke me up and made me use my other senses. And my kitty
Day-Z helped me! Another one of her prompts is to change your environment when you make art. For example, taking some supplies out of the studio space and creating in a nearby park.
Simple changes can take you out of your head and into your life again.
